Basketball League 2009-2010

Finals Night January 29th 2010

We knew we were in for a tough evening of high quality basketball before we arrived at Stretford Leisure Centre. Two teams had been promoted from Division 2 and the standard was always going to be high. We had a difficult openig, three consecutive games, losing two and drawing one. Then we started to play as a team, just missing out in a nailbiting defeat to Brooklands 6-4 and losing to the eventual winners 8-4. I´d like to thank the children for their great effort and look forward to challenging next year.

Christmas 2009 Update.........................................

After two meetings of the Basketball A League at Stretford Leisure Centre, Woodheys are sitting in an excellent third position.

The highlight of the most recent meeting was a 2-2 draw with Heyes Lane - top of the table and only defeated once so far.

The third and final meeting of the season will see two teams come up from the league below and all the points set back to 0.

The top two teams from that evening will go forward to the finals night. We´ll be training hard in the build up for that event!
