Nature Trail
Our children are able to use the outdoor areas as extended classrooms. Please visit our individual class pages where there are many images and a multitude of information linking with activities undertaken. From looking after the birds in our Foundation Outdoor Area to appreciating early signs of spring and growing in the Labyrinth Area. Not to mention our wonderful designated Wild Area, where changes are happening daily.......if not hourly!
2009
Tim Burgess again visited our school..........and created an amazing Dove of Peace. His latest sculpture can be seen by all as a centre piece to our own " Rainbow Peace Garden".
2008
Woodheys had the pleasure of a visit from Tim Burgess, He is a Chainsaw Carver who provides workshops within schools. Mr Burgess spent the day at Woodheys working with individual classes creating a wonderful owl. The "Woodheys Owl" now oversees all the comings and goings in our beautiful designated Wildarea.. He also explained to the children very valuable imformation about health and safety. His work is sustainable, he carves woodland creatures in tree trunks from felled trees. Many of the trees he uses are sourced from the sustainable Arley Hall Estate which is near Macclesfield in Cheshire.
Here is a link to the Tim Burgess Website. www.thetimburgess.com where you can find out lots of additional information.
Leo de Caprio, in his film "The 11th Hour", stated that primary school children at 11 could identify 150 advertising logos, but could not name traditional flowers, trees, butterflies, birds etc. We decided to enhance our school gounds and develop a nature trail with beautiful signs to help the children´s general knowledge.
All our beautiful signs have been designed by Anne Michaelades: info@naturesigndesign.co.uk website www.naturesigndesign.co.uk
