Marking & Feedback

What is the INTENT for marking and feedback at Woodheys?

At Woodheys we believe that giving feedback to the children at the point of learning will have the maximum impact on their learning and progress across the subject areas. We believe that whole class and individual feedback can improve children’s learning at different points within the learning journey. We use feedback sheets to record observations of independent work and note areas for development within all ability ranges.

Teachers effectively use formative assessment to plan and deliver lessons which suit the needs of the learners without having to spend huge amounts of time on secretarial marking. We believe that with clear success criterias we will coach children to become effective at self and peer assessment and that by the end of their journey at Woodheys, they will become effective learners and critiques of their work and that of their peers.
