Sex and relationships education (SRE) is learning about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, relationships, sex, human sexuality and sexual health. As a school we have taken our time to create and implement a meaningful scheme of work that has been designed in consultation with our school community which has links with statutory elements of the Science curriculum. Prior to the implementation of the scheme of work, we established an SRE working party consisting of governors, staff and parents from a cross section of our school community. The SRE working party reviewed a number of published schemes of work and resources and made collaborative decisions to avoid video content during lessons and to use discussion and diagrams to support learning.
